A passion for movement, for nature, for human spirit.

A passion for stories.

Behind the byline.

The thread of my life has been movement — hiking, skiing, surfing, kayaking, backpacking, cycling — anything outside. I grew up in the Idaho outdoors and studied journalism at the University of Montana in beautiful Missoula. After college, I worked as a newspaper reporter for the Boise Weekly, as well as a freelancer for Boise State Public Radio. I focused most on stories of outdoor recreation and long-form features.

Then, I hiked more than 1,000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail and moved to Portland, Oregon. I worked for six years as the Training Consultant for Sit Means Sit Dog Training, one of the largest and best-quality training facilities in Portland. In that time, I was awarded Top Salesperson out of 160 locations nationwide, two years in a row.

Now, I work at Nike as the Studio Coordinator for Consumer Direct Studio in North America. I help manage a studio of 50+ creatives and production staff creating platform campaigns and obsessing the consumer journey. Before that, I worked on the Organic Growth Content team at Nike. I wrote stories for Nike.com on product offerings and product care. Through SEO research, I created search-relevant story assignments and scouted the best freelancers for the job. I shepherd their work through the editing process to ensure a brand-right voice, and designed each story’s layout for Nike.com and mobile apps.

My passion is storytelling. The best stories are told through all senses: High-quality audio, compelling visuals and engaging written word. My favorite stories are those of people pushing their limits, rising above fear, accomplishing goals and moving onto the next feat. And, I work best under deadline.

I am always looking forward to the next adventure.

Would you climb a mountain with your sister?

After a high-speed car crash, sisters Rachel DePuy and Katy-Robin Garton’s relationship cratered. Climbing 20,000-foot Mount Denali isn’t where most siblings resolve their issues, but for these sisters, it was the ascent they needed. I reported and mixed this story of two sisters conquering more than sibling rivalry.

It’s not about the fish.

Six military vets go fly fishing in Southwestern Idaho, to cope with a war that left their lives in ruins. I followed along.

Wheels down in the wilderness:
Four disabled children experience idaho’s backcountry for the first time

BOISE WEEKLY, July 8, 2015

The past few years have been rough on Meghan. You can see it by the way she looks into the campfire. Two years ago, on a nice day in March, she was riding with her brother the day after he got his learner's permit. They were T-boned by a semi truck.

"She got folded in half," said Dayl Wuthrick, her cousin […].

Meghan traded her love of gymnastics and dance for a life of challenges and adaptations. She gets frustrated when people offer to help her too much. Dayl said she's in a place where she needs to learn to ask for help.

Finding Lucius:
Inside the search for a missing friend

BOISE WEEKLY, Sept. 3, 2014

Jake Gillis knew it. There was something about that stretch of road, that patch of ground. Even though it had been scoured by dozens of volunteers, he kept going back to it.

"One more time," he said.

Climbing into the cockpit of a helicopter, Gillis hoped this would be it—he wanted to find 21-year-old Lucius Robbi.
